9th Annual Chocolate Walk in Bedford, PA + A Recipe from Judy’s Kitchen

If you’re wondering what events are in Bedford, PA this February, the Downtown Bedford Chocolate Walk is one of our favorites.
The Chocolate Walk is a ticketed, family-friendly downtown event held each February in Bedford, PA.
Each year, historic downtown Bedford fills with families, friends, and visitors strolling from shop to shop, tasting chocolate themed treats from participating businesses. It’s simple. It’s sweet. And it’s one of those small town traditions that makes winter feel a little brighter.
The 9th Annual Chocolate Walk takes place on February 21 and 28, 2026 from 11am to 3pm. The event is hosted by Downtown Bedford Inc., and most guests park in town and walk to each participating location.
Gracie Lou is honored to be participating for our fourth year.
While you’re visiting us for the walk, you’ll also see our new spring arrivals. Little Signs of Spring and a reminder that a new season is just around the corner.
As always, we wanted our chocolate offering to feel especially meaningful.
Tandy Cake — From Judy’s Kitchen
For the 2026 Chocolate Walk, we’re sharing Tandy Cake from Judy’s kitchen.
Judy was my grandmother, and her recipes have been passed down through our family for generations.
Growing up, Christmastime meant flour-dusted counters and cookie tins filled to the brim. After she passed away, the tradition continued. Now, my Aunt Debbie and I carry it on together.
There isn’t one specific memory tied to this cake, just the warmth of all of them.
It’s also become a favorite for my husband, which makes it feel like a full-circle, multi-generational tradition.
And that felt like the right recipe to share.
Tandy Cake (From Judy’s Kitchen)
Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup milk
-
1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 cup peanut butter
-
1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 375°F.
-
In a large bowl, mix together the eggs, sugar, milk, and vanilla.
-
Add the flour and baking powder. Mix until fully combined.
-
Grease and flour a sheet pan, then pour in the batter.
-
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. The top should be lightly golden and the sides will begin to pull away from the pan.
-
While the cake is still warm, use a butter knife or spatula to spread the peanut butter evenly over the top. If the peanut butter is firm, allow the warmth of the cake to soften it as you spread.
-
While the cake and peanut butter layer cool slightly, melt the chocolate chips.
-
Pour the melted chocolate over the peanut butter and spread evenly.
-
Allow to cool completely, then cut into squares and serve.
Best enjoyed with cold milk and warm conversations.
If you’re planning a February visit to Bedford, the Chocolate Walk is a wonderful way to explore downtown, discover local businesses, and enjoy a sweet afternoon with family or friends.
We would love to welcome you into Gracie Lou during the walk.
